Now more than ever, private support from our alumni, friends and corporate partners plays a critical role in ensuring excellence within the University of Arizona department of civil engineering and engineering mechanics. Generous contributions from our donors have not only made the gift of education possible for many of our students, but enabled us to develop innovative programs while attracting and retaining prominent faculty.
By making a gift to the department, you’re investing in the future success, discovery and innovation developed by our students and the faculty who inspire them.
Unrestricted contributions are used for the area of greatest need, which may include, but are not limited to:
- Student recruitment
- Undergraduate scholarship
- Graduate student scholarships
- Laboratory equipment and maintenance
- Building renovations
- Faculty support
We are also developing a Construction Engineering Management, or CEM, emphasis to complement the department's existing emphases in geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, water resource engineering and hydrology, transportation engineering, and environmental engineering. Generous industry and alumni gifts have been supporting yearly costs while we seek to establish a $5 million endowment to sustain CEM's future.
