Papajohn Shows Students the Business of Engineering

Last year, professor of practice Dean Papajohn and the American Society of Professional Estimators partnered to provide a unique test of engineering students' knowledge of the business side of the industryDean Papajohn (far right) looks on as students are coached in 11th Hour Bid Simulation (2016)

Papajohn, who leads the CEEM construction engineering management emphasis and established the new University of Arizona design-build team, invited ASPE to the UA campus to hold an 11th Hour Bid Simulation – a nearly day-long, hands-on simulation that mimics the engineering project bid process, including evaluation of subcontractor bids and calculating bonds, taxes and overhead.

ASPE also offers a $5,000 scholarship for undergraduate students and conducts monthly educational programs at its local chapters.

This year, ASPE's Phoenix chapter is playing host to the simulation; the event takes place on April 1.
