Design-Build Institute of America

UAITE members with road signs and traffic lightsThe Design-Build Institute of America, or DBIA, promotes the value of design-build project delivery. The institute teaches the effective integration of design and construction services to ensure success for owners and design and construction practitioners.

DBIA-UA is a student chapter that works to promote the benefits of design-build among UA students studying civil engineering, construction management, architecture, and other engineering and design disciplines.

The chapter participates in competitions that challenge members to demonstrate their understanding of design-build, attends professional conferences, and welcomes professionals to campus to share their knowledge with students.

Institute of Transportation Engineers

UAITE members with road signs and traffic lightsThe Institute of Transportation Engineers, or ITE, is an international educational and scientific association of transportation professionals who are responsible for meeting mobility and safety needs.

ITE facilitates the application of technology and scientific principles to research, planning, functional design, implementation, operation, policy development and management for any mode of ground transportation.

The UAITE student chapter aims to promote transportation knowledge of its members, helps them learn about the recent designs and technologies in the related fields, encourages education, and serves as a conduit for the exchange of professional information.

Society of Civil Engineers

The University of Arizona Society of Civil Engineers, or UASCE, builds leadership, character, high values and careers.

UASCE provides students with the opportunity to learn and apply important civil engineering concepts through design projects and community service, and to meet civil engineering professionals and obtain internships and jobs.

The group hosts an annual career night for engineering students, competes annually in a regional conference, and regularly participates in Adopt-a-Highway, Habitat for Humanity, Mathcounts, and other outreach activities.

Women in Civil Engineering

WICE student membersWomen in Civil Engineering, or WICE, is a nonprofit organization open to women undergraduate and graduate students in the UA department of civil engineering and engineering mechanics. There is no membership fee.

WICE aims to enrich lives, bridge connections, enhance learning and spur achievement of all the students in the CEEM department. The group accomplishes this goal by maintaining the CEEM study lounge and hosting several annual events open to all CEEM students, including:

  • Fall welcome party for new students
  • Christmas cookie contest
  • Spring field trip/picnic
